A Review: Google Drive Applications

Image
April 30, 2022  By Kyle Harvey  Google Drive offers Gmail users the ability to create documents, slides, forms, and spreadsheets for free. These applications easily rival those found in the Microsoft Suites applications commonly used in their functionality and usability. During module 3 the class was asked to create 4 separate items using each of the 4 applications mentioned above and then link them to a compare and contrast blog for others to review. I found that using these applications was very similar to using Microsoft applications and enjoyed them for what they are which is applications designed to create documents, slides, forms, and spreadsheets. The one feature that I wasn't super pleased with was that Google Drive does not allow users to right-click paste which is the main method I use. I don't hate using the shortcut method, but it did take some getting used to (and a lot of reminding by Google) for me to catch on. Overall, I believe that Google Drive is the future

Review of Social bookmarking Sites: Pocket/Instapaper

Image
April 28th, 2022 By Kyle Harvey In this assignment we were to choose to social bookmarking sites and then use them to gather articles. Out of the articles and sites that we selected 10 of the articles had to pertain to our hobbies and interests while another 10 articles had to consist of information related to our careers. I chose to select the sites Pocket and Instapaper. These are tools that I have used in the past to help me organize and go through articles more quickly since they also have the ability to read the site for you as well. I enjoyed each of the sites equally and feel that you can't really go wrong with either one. If you twisted my arm though, I would choose Pocket since it makes it very easy to share URLs of articles. Instapaper does have a sharing option, but it mostly makes you utilize email which isn't something that people use all the time. Below are the links to my blogs that contain both my Instapaper and Pocket Articles. Each Image is clickable and shou

Review: Animation Creators

Image
April 28th, 2022 By: Kyle Harvey The creation of simple and entertaining animation videos can be the thing that takes your training or videography to the next level. I think the best use for animation videos is when you have step by step reminders that you are trying to teach, or you are creating a voice over video and don't want your viewers becoming bored while you talk over B-Roll. During this lesson we were asked to use and then review two different video animation software's. I chose to fulfill this request by using the websites  Wideo  and  Vyond  which were both fairly similar sites.  The First animation that I created was with Vyond. I really enjoyed the amount of customization that Vyond allowed for and its professional quality. What I did not enjoy about Vyond is how much restricted access it places on the user. In order to download or share an animation the user has to "upgrade" their subscription which is no small ask since the cheapest subscription availa

Software Review: QR Generators

Image
April 28th, 2022  By Kyle Harvey      QR codes have been around in some form since 1994 and were created by the Japanese automotive company Denso Wave. QR Codes can be used to send text messages, scan digital menus, link to websites, and much more! During this lesson I was asked to choose two different free online QR generators and write a small review of each along the QR created.  The First website I used to generate my QR code was the website provided by our instructor which was  QR Code Generato r. To get started making my QR code I was required to sign up for the site which involved providing my email address and responding to an activation email. After signing up I was given instant access to making QR codes for a wide range of options including websites, YouTube videos, and images. Below is the working QR code I was able to create! The next website that I utilized to create my second QR Code was  QR Generator . This website was nearly identical to the first website posted above

Each of the applications used provided the user with the ability to record, edit, and upload screen capturing videos. This type of application is very useful in creating "How to Videos" and demonstrations. Out of all the Video recording applications my favorite was actual the Microsoft Recording App. This is because it was the simplest to use, saved directly to my computer, and required no third-party software's.   Below is a small review of each application used:  Capture Review: Pros: Easy to use Simple to download Cons:  Only provides a link to the video and does not provide the ability to download the video. The link to the video is provided below. This video was recorded using Ca
